A special thanks to all the parents who help organise our Summer and Winter Fairs, as well as other events.

Dear Parents,

Southbourne Infant is a co-educational school for 4-7 year olds. The school has received three good Ofsted Reports and we have a very good reputation in the area, for our standards of achievement and for the good behaviour and attitudes of our children.

We provide a supportive and stimulating learning environment in which children receive a broad and balanced curriculum. We cover the Foundation Stage curriculum for 3-5 year olds in the Reception year and the full range of national curriculum subjects for Key Stage 1 for 5-7 year olds, in Year One and Year Two.

We believe that our aims can only be achieved by working in close partnership with our parents, as we share the common goal of wanting the best for the children. There are many ways in which we can work together to help your children and we are always available, should you have any difficulties or concerns.

At seven years old the children generally move on to Southbourne Junior School, which is situated on the same site, and our two schools liaise very closely to ensure continuity and progression for the children.

The schools also have a shared Parents’ Association which works hard on fund-raising activities to support both our schools. We hope that our new parents will support the Parents’ Association in their valuable work.

The information in this prospectus is up to date at the time of publishing, but any changes or additional information are given out in regular half termly newsletters. Parents are also invited to open mornings, consultation evenings and information meetings or workshops on a regular basis throughout the school year.

Our school prides itself on its warm and welcoming ethos. The staff and governors all work hard to ensure a secure, happy and successful start for all our children as they begin their first stage of schooling. Our school motto is “ a foundation for lifelong learning”.

We welcome visitors to our school and we would encourage any prospective parents to make an appointment to visit us, as this is the best way to really get a feel for the school.

Yours sincerely,

Rose Gaskin,

Headteacher
